Introduction

Toxoplasma gondii is a parasitic protozoan that causes toxoplasmosis in warm-blooded animals. Cats are the definitive host for toxoplasma gondii but several intermediate hosts also exist. It is usually transmitted from infected meat or cat feces. Toxoplasma gondii is asymptomatic in most humans but it causes various symptoms in immunocompromised patients, pregnant women and congenitally infected children with toxoplasmosis.

Toxo RQ kit provides a ready-to-use Duplex Real-Time PCR system for detection of Toxoplasma DNA with Rotor-Gene or StepOne. In this method application of fluorescent probes allows detection of different targets within the same reaction. Analysis of fluorescent kinetics also leads to detection of target sequences in the reaction without requiring post-amplification analysis therefore, reducing the possibility of contamination with the PCR product. This kit also incorporates an Internal Control (IC) to identify possible extraction failure or PCR inhibition.
